Attractions in Toronto

Toronto is ranked incredibly highly in a whole bunch of international “best of” rankings these days, partially because it is a beautiful, safe, multi-cultural, cosmopolitan city and partially because there is just so much to see and do here.

Not only is there a gorgeous skyline, a lake, great food, and nice people, but there are enough world class attractions to keep you busy for weeks.

Near Lake Ontario:

Don’t miss the CN Tower because the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, a signature icon of Toronto’s skyline, offers incredible views and also has the thrilling EdgeWalk. While you’re there, stop in at the Hockey Hall of Fame, which has the world’s greatest collection of hockey artifacts, including the Stanley Cup. At the base of the CN Tower is one of Toronto’s newer attractions, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. This world class aquarium has Dive Shows, Touch Exhibits, and even Friday nite jazz!

Midtown (and a bit north):

The Bata Shoe Museum has an international collection of over 13,000 shoes including a celebrity show area. Speaking of celebs…if you want to feel like royalty, Casa Loma is North America’s only full size castle. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is Canada’s largest museum of natural history and world culture and has everything from dinosaurs to Ancient Egypt to the history of Canada. And just 15 minutes from midtown, the Ontario Science Centre may sound like it is for kids with its engaging interactive exhibits, but in fact, it is great for all ages!

Areas that are Attractions:

Toronto draws people to individual attractions but also to whole areas of the city that are unique and different. Distillery Historic District is a national historic site and walking district with cafés, restaurants, & stores in heritage buildings of the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery. Church-Wellesley Village is known as central stage for Toronto’s lesbian, gay, bi & trans communities; it is particularly fun during Pride events and Halloween. Queen West between University and Bathurst was named by Vogue as one of the coolest streets in the world and has become a hub for local art, fashion and music. And finally, Little Italy has been recognized for the historical contributions it has made to the Italian community and to Toronto in general. It is a perfect place to taste, experience and shop as if you were right in Italy.
