By admin Wednesday, October 28, 2020
Though Halloween season may look a little different this year, there are still plenty of spooktacular excursions and activities to do all over Ontario! We’ve got you covered on your fright nights, socially distant tours, and other themed activities that will keep you and your whole family in the Halloween spirit! Please check all local websites for health and safety measures and pre-booking online to comply with COVID-19 measures.
Eastern/Ottawa
Explore the spookier side of Ottawa in a socially distant group tour of the Original Haunted Walk of Ottawa and Haunted Ottawa Jail Tour. You’ll hear ghost stories and be led by lantern light to famed haunted spots like the Bytown Museum and Fairmont Château Laurier. For an at-home version, enjoy an interactive online audio experience where you’ll conduct a guided series of six paranormal experiments in the Haunting at Home. It’s Frightfest at Saunders Farm every weekend and during Halloweek! Enjoy a tour of The Coven, the Haunted Hayride and The Shambles in this modified one-hour experience! Saunders Farm is also presenting a new experience called The Sawmill at Landsdowne Park, where you’ll explore the debris from a 2008 demolition of TD’s Southside Stands and what remains. The whole family will love solving a Monster Mystery at the Museum outside of The Billings Estate National Historic Site on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25 from 10 am to 4 pm (Reserve in advance). Older kids might want to get in touch with the supernatural for an hour at the Historic Cemetery Tours. For a more complicated challenge, book a small group for an escape room tour in the underground bunker at The Diefenbunker, the world’s largest escape room at Canada’s Cold War Museum!
GTA
There are a variety of ways to enjoy Halloween festivities this year without the traditional trick-or-treat or haunted castle. At Black Creek Pioneer Village enjoy a physically-distanced séance, a grim fairy tale puppet show, and the ultimate Halloween hunt! Bundle up for outdoor Halloween fun at Kortright Centre’s Kreepy Kortright from October 24-30. Go for a frightening forest walk, discover a haunted house, and look for the live owls. Not as frightening but illuminating, transport yourself into the future at Terra Lumina on an enchanted walk punctuated with multimedia effects and light projects throughout the Toronto Zoo. Support the St. John Ambulance in the York Region Zombie Hunt, a daily challenge from Oct 1-31 to win prizes! Explore haunted Toronto on foot via a small bubble ghost tour of up to 12 people with The Haunted Walk. Choose your own adventure: Spirits of the Distillery District Ghost Tour, Campus Secrets & Spectres, Original Haunted Walk of Toronto, and Ghosts of Black Creek Pioneer Village. Debunk fact vs fiction on a free ghost tour of Toronto with the Tour Guys, while getting to see some iconic sights of the Six.
