Gay Lea Dairy Museum & CEC
Description
We are open from May to September with regular hours, but available throughout the year to host your group or event. Please contact us at museum@gayleafoods.com to book a tour or event in the off-season.
About the Dairy Museum:
From what started 30+ years ago as a passion project by a dairy farming couple from Holland (who'd personally collected over 16,000 artifacts!), our museum has evolved into a multi-faceted education centre, featuring classroom/meeting facilities, acres of event fields and trails, camping/cabin accommodations and a robust education program for groups of all ages and abilities.
Originally a private collection, the Dairy Museum is now owned and operated by Gay Lea Foods Co-operative Ltd., a co-op of 1400+ Ontario dairy farmers. The collection contains over 22,000 artifacts related to the dairy industry and other farming activities. Located on a 98 acre property, visitors can explore the collection, enjoy a picnic and walk our trails through the Carolinian Forest.
The Co-operative Education Centre was created with a simple goal in mind: to provide co-operators, community leaders and changemakers with an inspiring and serene space to create and collaborate.
Located near Aylmer, Ontario, the CEC is an ideal venue to host workshops, retreats, conferences, weddings and celebrations. Features on our site include:
• 8 cabins, up to 6 guests per cabin
• Communal hall for workshops, talks & screenings
• Outdoor event tent for 100+ guests
• Commercial-grade kitchen
• Sound system, LCD projectors and screens
• Breakout meeting rooms
• Walking trails throughout the grounds
• Large open fields for team challenges & games
• Fire pit and community garden spaces
• Heaps of sports & recreational equipment on site
