What are YOU going to do this weekend?
|
15 heart racing adventures to try this summer! |
You know how they say watching a horror movie is good for you? The same can be said for exciting activities. They make your blood pressure increase and put your body into a state of excitement. This “excitation transfer process” intensifies good (or bad) feelings experienced for a while after and makes you want to do it again! Adrenaline also increases the number of antioxidants in your system, which help with the free radicals that cause aging. And when you add the fact that some are outdoor, it makes it even healthier. So, scream a little; it’s good for you!

Whitewater Rafting in Ontario
If you’ve never been rafting, this is an outdoor activity you’ve gotta add to your list! The Ottawa River is one of the best places in the world for rafting; people come from around the world to experience it. Wilderness Tours Rafting & Kayaking Resort, Foresters Falls, does Mild to wild family rafting and also has a Full Service Resort. Ottawa City Rafting does 3-hour trips on the Ottawa River with views of Parliament Hill & can even accommodate Non-Swimmers. Madawaska Rafting does two-hour rafting tours on the Madawaska River for all ages. OWL Rafting on the Ottawa River does 1&2 Day Adventure & Family Rafting Trips.

Aerial
Some of the places in this section have both aerial adventure courses AND ziplines. Aerial parks contain rope bridges, obstacles, cargo nets etc which are often set out in a course and may include GPS rallies and other games. The games may have a zipline element but if the Zipline is a standalone activity, it will appear in the next section. Camp Fortune Aerial Parks & Ziplines contains both; its aerial park near Ottawa has 2 adult courses & 1 children's course. Treetop Eco-Adventure Park in Oshawa also has both; its Aerial Game courses include suspended bridges, Tarzan swings, swinging logs & cable traverses. Treetop Trekking has 6 Zipline Adventure Parks where you can climb, swing & zip through the forest canopy during a 3-hour trek. Blue Mountain Timber Challenge High Ropes has 75+ aerial elements including suspension bridges, ladders, cargo nets & zip lines. Skywood Eco Adventure in Mallorytown also has both and is Canada’s largest aerial adventure and zip line park.

Ziplines in Ontario
If you like to be high up and see the world from the treetops at a FAST pace, Ziplines are for you! Eagle Canyon Adventures has Canada’s longest, highest and fastest zipline at ½ mile long, 175’ high and 45mph. WHEEEEE! Long Point Eco-Adventures has a 2.5 hr zipline and canopy tour adventure through the Carolinian forest. Take it at night too. WildPlay's MistRider Zipline to the Falls is Nagara's thrilling Zipline with four parallel ziplines that face the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

Other exciting things to do
There are other options in Ontario that don’t fit into the above categories but still provide a thrill. IFLY Indoor Skydiving (with 2 GTA locations) lets you defy the law of gravity in a totally safe environment with professional instructors. Caves are exciting too. Bonnechere Caves lets you visit the bottom of a tropical sea from 500 million years ago to see stalactites hanging from the ceiling & fossils embedded in the limestone walls. Highland Wilderness Tours near Algonquin Park, will take you on an ATV tour, horseback trail ride, or if you are looking for some adventure in winter, they also do snowmobile tours and dog-sledding. Now that’s exciting!
